Vaseline Glass Perfume Bottle
« on: January 30, 2010, 08:45:56 PM »
I have this very nice vaseline glass perfume , looks to be of high quality, polished pontil to base and top of the stopper, I do not know who made it.

I am not to worried about the maker but would like some help on the best way to try and separate the stopper from the bottle which seems to be well and truly stuck , I have not really tried anything yet as I do not want to damage the bottle.

The bottle stands 4.5" or 12cm and weighs a heavy 300gm

Thanks Roy

Thank you very much for the link, I tried for a short while and failed , left it with my wife who successfully removed the stopper with hot water and knocking the stopper on a clothe on kitchen worktop with out cracking or damage

Glad it helped Roy (and well-done Mrs Roy! :))

It's a lovely perfume bottle - I wonder who did make it? Perhaps Dave P will know...

Roy, I have not seen that bottle before, but the first thought that came into my mind was that if it showed up on the world's largest internet auction site, I would definitely consider bidding on it!

I have never had the misfortune of having a stuck perfume stopper, but the thought was always in the back of my mind that if I ever did, the first thing I would try was some kind of penetrating petroleum product like WD-40 to see if it might break up whatever was sticking it together.

Thanks Anne.

Dave that was just my first thought as well WD 40 even checked my shed but could not find any so decided to try the hot water etc treatment.

I have  never seen a bottle like it before either, my wife only likes full expensive perfume bottles so there is great chance it may end up someware soon
