I would be very surprised if Janton77's vases reacted under uv in the same way as yours, mich19uk.

Janton's are standard Anchor & Hocking "Royal Ruby" (lots around). Under small, battery powered uv lights they will show almost no reaction. Using a mains operated uv lamp, they will show a slight "dusty yellowish-orange" (looking a bit like the texture of peach skin). Under shortwave uv they show as a clear, allover darkish cream colour (with the textured look of a paint undercoat!).

Also, it is very likley that Janton's have an "H & Anchor" mark on the base.

Thanks for the link Anne, I have had a good look but there isn't anything the same.

KevH I only used a small torch for my vase to show this orange colour.

They do have the mark on the bottom! These vases have been passed on my partners late gran so I knew they had some age to them...

Just to add to Kev's point, AH's Royal Ruby was coloured with gold, hence the glow he describes. Conversely, mich19uk's vase must have cadmium sulphate or a cadmium/selenium mix to get the orange glow that it shows. See the following thread, or search the board on cadmium sulphate.
