I bought this vase in York about four years ago and I still haven't got a clue about it. I have only ever seen one smiler to it and that was being sold by the same dealer a couple of months later, and one was enough for me  ;D. The vase is nearly 32 cm in hight and weighs 2514g. It is made from blue glass and has iridescent banding all the way around. The vase has then had trailing applied to it.On the bottom of the vase the pontil mark goes inwards. there seems to be a very small monogram cut into the base , but the best that i can make out is the initials ZJ, but i can't be 100% about this.Has anyone got any idea about this vase so i can at least have some direction as to where to look. Henry

Reminds me of Adam Jablonski's work I looked at a while ago - might be worth a check: http://www.chamberofcommerce.pl/jablonski_crystal/ and http://crystalrivergems.com/products/glass/jablonski/
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Thanks for replying to my post Anne. I've had a look for Adam Jablonski's on the net. I can see why you thought it might be one of his pieces , but i haven't been able to find anything that come close to my vase. I've defiantly had one of his vases before and maybe even two.Nice glass and very well made. Wish i had kept it now instead of giving it away on ebay as a unknown vase. Will know for next time. ::)

Hi Anik, the camera i have on me at the moment will not pick out the mark on the base, but I'll try and describe it for you :o.It looks like a Z with the bottom half of the diagonal line and the base line forming a loop. Attached to the loop carring on down is what looks like a J. A bit confusing i know, but it is quite small and hard to see. Henry

Thanks for the link you posted Christine. I've checked out the site and i don't think the vase is by bajian glass, I believe that i do have a piece of their glass and I was going to put a post about it,  but looks like  I've just got my answer already  ;D

Hello Henry  :)

Here are two examples of Adam Jabłoński initials... if the initials on your piece are similar, then Anne could indeed be right.  (It doesn't really strike me as a Jabłoński piece, but then again you never know...)

Oh and thank you for taking the time to describe the initials.  It might certainly help others in identifying the maker -- as for me, I'm more of a visual gal  :pb:

Thanks for that Anik, I've looked at the 2 examples that you posted of Adam Jabłoński initials, and I'm afraid they are not similar to the marks on the vase. The piece of glass that i had of Adam Jabłoński did not have any markings on but i saw the vase in the link Anne posted. The more i look at the link, the more i wonder why I sold the vase.

What about Lazlo?
He worked with John Ditchfiled, does tis sort of thing - and some ammazing stuff with glass snails and things on it (rather then those :-X little silver thingies stuck on, sorry, just my personal opinion, I don't like silver bits stuck onto glass!)

some pics here...

Your vase looks quite like his work - and you've a "z" in the mark .............
