Ah, this was probably mine then - I shifted it at Hemswell last weekend in my bi-annual attic clearout.

My own instinct was that it was, once, a taller vase that had been broken and then ground down because the rim cuts right through the textured pattern. I also felt that the silver base was a later addition, possibly also to mask further damage.

The design is very familiar, but I never bothered to spend time looking into it because of my concerns mentioned above.
you might be right but like flying free said why go to the trouble to put a silver base on. i must have a look up to hemswell

does the vase go right down into the silver casing?  i.e is it 'footed' sort of where it indents at the bottom?  I think there are Ruda bowls that have a 'foot' bit.  Not saying it is Ruda, but just a thought that it may have been a bowl perhaps?  how tall is it?  Also I'm not sure that colour is a Czech 'colour' but could be wrong.  But I do recall some discussion about a vase , I think called a 'pineapple' vase or something, that had triangular prunts/pattern  on it.  The discussion was about whether or not it was a Sklo Union vase if I recall correctly,  and I think that might have been attributed to possibly having been German in the end - that might have been this blue type colour as well (there was definitely one in a green but think there might have been one in a dark blue :spls:).

The vase is cased glass - blue in clear - which would surely discount SU pressed ware?

I thought Ruda too - but couldn't find a match for the pattern.

yes it would Nic.  I just couldn't tell from the pics whether or not it was  pressed and was just answering Stew's comment about the similarities to  it being Hermanova Hut glass.  I think there is a Finnish? glass company that also did this blue type colour with texture/patterns.  I'll see if I can find it and have a look.

I was wondering if this vase may have been by Gralglas.  I spotted two vases on Dirk's photosite that had silver bases in what I recall may have been the blue of this vase - unfortunately the pics have now disappeared though.
Link below to what may have been similar vases

Stew your pics have disappeared.  I've just seen a thread where the designer has been id'd as Emil Funke
for Gralglas (link thread here - http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,27638.msg150840.html#msg150840.)  Can you reinstate the pic please if you still have it?
Many thanks
