Topic: Small clear vase with engraved mistletoe -- maker?

Hi,

I'm hoping someone could tell me more (glassworks, etc.) about this little vase.  It's only 142mm high and 26mm wide at the very top.  Deep engravings of mistletoe go all the way around the piece, and 'lumpiness', particularly behind the engravings, can be felt on the inside.  The base is flat, with a lot of wear.

P.S.  If you are looking, don't pay too much attention to the dirt on the inside of the vase -- it's a difficult piece to get clean.  :spls:

Pretty sure this is Harrach c1900

is the mistletoe engraved or moulded? -either way it could be Harrach they did both.

Mike, thank you for taking the time to respond. 

Unfortunately, I'm not knowledgable enough to tell you whether the mistletoe has been engraved or moulded -- to my eye, it looks engraved, but there are protrusions on the inside of the vase, especially beneath the 'petals'.

It would be wonderful if my little vase turned out to be Harrach.  With your helpful point in (hopefully) the right direction, perhaps I'll find confirmation...

Having seen this very similar vase attributed to Moser (see here: http://cgi.ebay.com/Seltene-Jugendstil-Vase-Moser-Karlsbad-1905-Art-Nouveau-/230575590115?pt=Glas_Kristall&hash=item35af604ae3) I decided to write to customer services and ask about my piece.  This was the response:

"..Each Moser glass piece is always signed on the bottom with a Moser brand mark. Your glass items seem to be made in the glassworks in Železný Brod in North Bohemia as the style of manufacturing correspond to their production."

Several of this seller´s attributions were not correct in the past, some of the current aren´t either.
He´s a lucky guy - his pieces seem to fetch results beyond usual ebay market value...  :sm:

These are often misattributed to Moser or to VSL - but they're actually from a Czech refinery - the name escapes me & unable to find the relevant book right now.

I must admit, the seller was very convincing with his attribution -- he even provided a source and page number.  Seeing the price he got for the piece, others were also obviously convinced.

Talking about 'sources', in Judith Miller's "DK Collector's Guides, 20th Century Glass" a vase much like mine, but with a different moulded leaf pattern, appears on page 172.  It's described as a Bohemian clear glass vase of tubular form, moulded and engraved with a partially obscured female torso. 1905


I think there must be an error -- I wouldn't describe the vase as 'tubular', and I see leaves, not a naked woman.  :spls:

I have to admit, since the description read "partially obscured female torso", I started examining the picture to see where she was hiding... needless to say, I couldn't find her.
