I know little about these figurines, but suspect they may be Murano.    Lets see what the knowledgable have to say.

I would agree, these look like good quality Murano, perhaps even at the standard of Franco Toffolo - but his is the only name I know for this sort of thing, we need somebody who does know to pop in.

Anybody with some knowledge of Murno figurines think that these could possibly be Toffolo?

I think the figures are Murano, but I don't know who. Toffolo is actually UK and not Murano. He trained in Murano, but his furnace is in England. Blackpool or something like that. I would have to check the name of the place again and I'm feeling too lazy right now.

Toffolo worked in :smg: :sc: SCOTLAND :sc: :smg:
(although now he has completely retired, he is in England somewhere)

Thanks, Sue. I am getting my British countries confused. They are both so beautiful. Apparently Franco thought so, too.

No you are correct Anita, Franco Toffelo came to England in the sixties and ran a studio for a lot of years in Blackpool
Venetian glass company, though he did later move to Caithness still doing a bit with John deacons I believe?
Talking to a lady about a piece of his at a fair at the Raebok stadium in Bolton and she said he was actually in Blackpool upto 1980?
but don't quote me on that.
Chris

After retiring from Caithness he did spend Thursday mornings (I believe) working alongside John Deacons and Willie Manson, but is now completely retired.
I'm lucky enough to own a fabulous sommerso bowl he made there.
(I'll get an image soon, if you like?)

Mod: for bowl see:  http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,39144.0.html

apologies, I didn't know he'd worked in England. :-[

I did once see him once, (in quite a flurry) running out of the Strathearn Gallery in Crieff - where much of his last work, done in JD's studio, was sold.
