One more pic that shows the base at a better angle. This image displays the difference between the color of the bottom and the mouth of the piece....

The images of this still show a little more pink than it actually is. I was just looking at the vase while the image of the other tall vase was on the screen, and the color of the vase in person is very much like the color of the vase in the image......  My monitor is quite accurate as far as color goes, and assuming the image of the tall vase is accurate as far as color goes, the ground color is really quite similar.....

Fascinating, finding one signed would make an attribution solid, to my eye it screams early Mdina. As per Christine's mantra, it can come and live at my house anytime. :hiclp:

Would it be worth asking Ron at Artius Glass? I know Sue disagrees (ATM), so a third opinion might be worth having.

The straps look cobalt-ish - not something you'd find in conjunction with pink.
The shape is more akin to stuff from the '80s.
I reckon it's probably American, given that's where Craig is.

I sent a group of images to Ron right after I posted the updated images. I sent him the initial images early on explaining that they were taken with a phone and he was quite interested in seeing more.  His opinion initially was that it shared characteristics with the tall bottle.  I will post any comments he makes after reviewing the images or asking for additional information.

As far as the color of the strapping goes, I would expect the strapping on a smaller vessel to be darker. It would seem easier to apply and thin the straps on a 21 inch tall piece much easier than on a piece just under 7 inches with multiple applications so close together.

I do not know what the outcome will be as far as attribution, but it is not like any piece of American Studio glass I have ever seen...... and the area I live in is loaded with American Studio glass masters, many who trained at Pilchuck. It is also finished much nicer on the underside than we seem to like to do over here as a general rule.......

The strapping looks cobalt rather than turquoisey teal - there was only one pot of cobalt melted at Mdina in the very early days, long before pink or this shape was around.

Also, amethyst was used on it's own in the early period, not mixed in with clear to my knowledge.

In looking at the image in the link to Artius, I copied the image and enlarged it.  Tough to tell from the image for sure, but it appears to me that there is a clear foot at the base of that bottle, visible on the leading edge........  If so, it would indicate that there was some use of clear with the ground color. Could also be an illusion in the image..... or a reflection......

I am not pushing for an attribution one way or another, just making some observations relative to information provided here....

Craig, below is a Mdina fish vase with some of that cobalt blue, the dipped 'wings' are in cobalt the central blown 'section' is in a much paler blue, more of a sky blue.

Sue, is your strapped bottle cased? I wondered about that one in Ron's photo too.

There is certainly a clear gather in this amethyst fish vase: https://picasaweb.google.com/Johnmj100/EarlyMdinaGlass#5473340076203262786

As for amethyst not being 'mixed', here is a photo of a section of the strapping on the zig zag vase:
