Prettiest CARNIVAL Glass I have seen (Punch Bowl Set)
« on: April 01, 2012, 11:30:02 PM »
Hi there:

Bought this yesterday.  It is the prettiest Carnival glass color I have seen !!!!  I really like the Color !!!

I have seen amber, blue, clear -- but I do not think I have seen Green like this.  Is this a rarer color at all?  I believe this is Indiana Glass (not sure of date).  It has all 12 cups, the punch bowl, the label, and the hooks (still in the bag) -- So Complete.  I believe this is called *Grape and Cable* as I have some other carnival glass with this type of pattern.  I tested (just in case) to see IF it glowed, but does not.  Does any Carnival glass glow?

Before I had gotten out of the store (the one selling used stuff) - I was already offered by others to pay me double the price I would be paying for it -- as it seemed to draw envy from other........ ;)

If anyone can confirm if this is Indiana Glass, the year, and IF this color is rare or not -- Please let me know.  I really am falling in love with this piece!!  I thought the BLUE ones looked nice -- but this GREEN one (IMHO) beats that color out!!

Thanks, for confirmation and any replies...

Hello Rose,my book on carnival glass is not the best but I think your punch bowl is just 'Grape' pattern by Imperial and not 'Grape and Cable' ,great colour, best see what the Carnival people have to say ;D ;D

This is relatively modern, what they call contemporary carnival. Some carnival does contain uranium, both older and newer.

Indiana's lime Carnival is very vibrant and has an appeal all of its own. I agree that the punch sets in lime are much harder to find than the blue ones. Congratulations on an interesting find - these were made in the 1970s so are already 40 or so years old.

You may find a couple of articles that we wrote some years back for wwwcga (the internet Carnival Glass club) of interest:

Thank you all for the replies :-*

Great info there Glen too.  So this is about the 70's INDIANA Glass punch bowl in the HARVEST pattern.  Not the Grapes and cable pattern then.  Gee, I thought it looked like that.

Still have to say this Green color here is much more prettier than the Blue, or amber I have here.  I know people here that go GA-GA over collecting Blue -- but IMHO -- I like this Green so much more now that I have seen it.  The 70's were a good time and I do not know what things are like over there BUT HERE any of the 70's stuff is really collectible and a Hot item.

yes, forgot to mention the ladle is plastic -- were older ones made of glass?  As this is the first punch set that I have ever owned myself.

(Added):   Thanks Paul S -- See you were typing while I was too....LOL.....at the same time....LOL

Rose, the ladle you have is the correct one. They were made of plastic. To the best of my knowledge there are no Carnival Glass ladles (neither "old" nor newer).

Oh Okay -- was not sure if the older ones were glass,  so now I know.  Thank you!

Guess the first pic did not show all the 12 matched cups - so here they are.   Is green any rarer at all?  I mean I have not seen myself any green like this myself.  I see the blues and other colors and that is at even Antique Shows.  Maybe people that have the green just never get rid of them and keep them.  I am getting to be an *old crow*  ;D here and I just find it amazing that I have Not seen this color before....

I got everything for $19.99 -- lol  ;D  So I hope decent price !
