Thank you Cubby01. I read your post yesterday but didn't respond because after reading it I WASTED my whole day and night researching the hows and whys of tilted glass.
Thanks to you, I was able to find all sorts of modern/contemporary tilted base glass, some for whiskey, some for wine and all for the purpose of style. You wrote that some tilted glass goes way back. My glass came out of a very old estate but I have no idea if it's a glass that "goes way back" or if it's more modern. Not being sure of how far way back means, I tried to find out (enter waste of day!). I couldn't find anything much earlier than mid century to a little before.
Since the first 100 examples I found on tilted glass were all for the purpose of being "stylish" I tried to find the source of this particular style. I mean, all trends/styles begin with someone. No luck. So I thought that if this style glass goes way back, even though it's a stylish thing today, maybe it began with a more practical purpose. Like, how the shape of a wine glass can influence the taste. No luck. Finally, since you mentioned that there's an actual name for this style glass I tried to find it. No luck. By the end of the night I was sure that the cure for my intense level of frustration over this stupid tilted glass was a xanax. No luck.
