Hi
can you tell me where you found the name Jose Cirera Royo please?
I've been trying to look up some information and hadn't come across someone with that name.  Do you have a thread link?

I thought Royo and Cirera were two different people.  Not come across the Jose bit at all.

thanks :)

Try this:
www.royoart.com

Then there is this that seems to indicate that Royo & Cirera are  two different people.

You know I wondered about that, but figured maybe at some point he did glass decorating plus when I tried to find "Jose Cirera Royo" the only info I could find related to items for sale & God only knows if they simply copied info thats an old wives tale from the past so figured there is no such person & maybe Cirera & Royo are actually two totally different people after all, but could not find anything related to a Jose Cirera, only a Jose Cirera (or Cire) Royo a Catalan artist of Catalonia Spain. The glass itself most likely from Gordiola Glass Works.

As far as I am aware from reading various posts including the most recent discussions on this board, the 'Cire' that is referred to is actually 'Cirera' and is a Genis Cirera Casanovas hence my topic here which I posted only yesterday and included Gordiola and Royo in the header:

http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,54597.msg309336.html#msg309336

I've not found any evidence on any threads that are the most recent discussions, that Royo and Cirera are the same person.  And none also that mention someone called Jose Royo Cirera painting glass.

I've not found any information further on who the 'Royo' is that signed some of these painted pieces though.
No idea if the cup is from Gordiola because I suppose it's possible that blanks from Gordiola and other companies might have been used?

oh  :-\  I'm not sure that information is correct - I suspect it might have come from looking at some discussions on this board but not all of them perhaps?

I did find this today which I believe is ceramic.  It is also signed Royo.

So it seems 'Royo' painted ceramics and glass.

Sorry it doesn't help further with your id though unfortunately.

So evidently all thats been written about this "Royo" individual for quite some time is basically a bit of a work of fiction no matter which version?  Just for the heck of it I tried Royo Spanish Artist & came up with two other Royo(s), Luis & Romulo Royo although no sure adult comic graphics, Heavy Metal, National Lampoon quite fit into this category regarding Luis although he did have a decoration studio in the 70s.  Romulo(s) website simply took too long to bring up his work so I quit.

Ivo had a confirmation email from Gordiola that some of the pieces Royo decorated were Gordiola glass pieces.
Link here:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,20531.msg117338.html#msg117338

It didn't say that all the pieces Royo decorated were Gordiola though.  And obviously they are not.  I don't mean to speculate, but from what I read on the link to the book about Cirera it seems there were decorators who decorated ceramics and glass, and the link I've just given to a piece signed by Royo and described as Porcelan, is ceramic, and therefore that would be the case here.

I don't think I'm clear on whether Royo was a person or a company still though.  And haven't found anything to determine that yet.
