Mystery Old Grey Lead Crystal Object???????
« on: November 26, 2013, 04:43:19 PM »
Here's one for the old glass experts im stumped with it i originally thought a salt or pepper pot but no means too screw the lid on as this had a lid or something i feel at some point which is no longer present? Its not that then i thought maybe something to do with these lace making type lamps?? It measures 4" tall base rim just under 2.5" and rim 3/4" outside the base foot edge has lots of wear and the central scar is fairly sharpish im sure its victorian glass? Would love to know other people's idea's or views as regards it's use and or age of item im flummoxed...Thanks dan

Hi ,
Possibly a pounce pot aka sand pot for sprinkling on ink after writing, the top would have been a metal push fit ,though it could also be a salt or pepper with the same push on top ,the difference is usually in the hole sizes , so without any holes lol its hard to be certain .

cheers ,
               Peter.
