Riihimaki / Riihmaen Lasi - Grapponia bottle vase ?
« on: August 18, 2014, 07:24:30 AM »
Hi

I picked up this smokey bottle vase yesterday - thought it looked similar to Riihmaki Nanny Still vase patterns,  but I can't find any reference to it anywhere.  Is this by a Finnish glass maker or is it WMF or another glass maker that emulated Nanny Still / Helena Tynell Styles ?

It's 4.5" high

Any help much appreciated !

Thanks

Rob

I have one in amber somewhere, they look a lot like Toikka's Kastehelmi pattern. They might have been made by Cascade, I have not had time to re-read these threads but they may give you some clues to search on.

Thanks for the info - very interesting.  Still struggling for references to the vase though - plenty on the candleholders and plates etc.  I am aware that Cascade glass produced a number of Scandi designs on licence - shame we don't have a catalogue for this glassworks !  :)

Greetings from Finland !
Vase is not Finnish glass at all. Grapponia vase (=maljakko) is like that ;

Welcome to the message board Nekka.

Thank you for your help, we don't know who made these little vases, not yet anyway. It seems that they are mostly found in Britain so they may well have been made here.
