Topic: Single handled goblet help please.

Any thoughts on this recent charity shop find.

It's well made very clear glass with a single white seed in the bowl, the cutting looks good and the base has a nicely polished pontil and some foot wear.

It's 5 3/4 inches in height, 3 1/2 inches across the rim and 3 /4 inches across the base.

how about a custard from somewhere around 1850 - 1870  ..........     A little unusual for a custard to have a stem of this size, especially with a knop, but not much else comes to mind.

Could be, i have and i'm sure you have a few custard cups, i thought it a bit on the large size, my collection of custards which is packed in a box somewhere all seem to be half the size and not so well decorated, thanks Paul.

I think most of my three or four dozen are now in boxes somewhere.

Agree this stem and knop are much larger and untypical of custards  -  can't see anything from the Tim Udall collection of C18 desert glasses that seems to match the style, either. 

Could be it's a style more from the Continent perhaps.       It's quite a posh little piece, with that collar under the bowl, and with a knop that looks to be a variety of the annulated sort..........    perhaps it's a 'master custard' from the top tier.
