Hi,
I found these recently in a local charity shop and thought they might be Fostoria. I have seen attributions here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fostoria-AMERICAN-CLEAR-Single-Conefoot-Candleholder-962046-/311401672858?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4880fc709a and here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Fostoria-AMERICAN-CLEAR-284-Large-Cone-Footed-Candlestick-4-Mold-16-Point-/291005405487?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43c146192f
I'm hoping that someone can confirm or refute that I have a pair of Fostoria 'American Clear' cone footed candle holders. I'd also be interested to know when and where they were manufactured and if someone could cast some light on why such prices are expected/ demanded. Are they rare? as they don't appear to be particularly unusual.
Thanks
Kind Regards
Nick

Nick, it could be Fostoria or it could be Libochovice pattern 1315, which is almost identical. We do not, sadly, know the size of the Libochovice one as the catalogue doesn't give it, but you can see the cat. images on the GTS website here:

Although I don't have these exact candlesticks I do have  the EIFEL Tower shape ones which are by Libochovice mine do not have ground base like yours they have molded bases and according to this piece on Fostoria glass bases are ground and molded in three part molds      http://www.ebay.co.uk/gds/Is-it-Fostoria-American-pattern-glassware-or-not-/10000000001566549/g.html

Use this email address & do exactly as I say.
research@fostoriaglass.org

Simply ask if these candlesticks are Fostoria or Libochovice as both seem to be confused with on one another quite often. Your pics are good so attach them & if they need more they will ask.

Under no circumstances ask for any values or even hint at any values, if you do your request will be immediately trashed.

May take a week, but accuracy will be 100%

Thank you Anne. I wasn't aware of the Libochovice connection and the link showing catalogue pages is very helpful.

Thank you Angela. The information about the base is another helpful avenue to investigate. I've also seen your 'Eifel tower' candlesticks attributed to Fostoria.

Thanks Ken for the website address and the format for an info request. I've taken your advice and applied for information, so fingers crossed.

Thanks to you all, as usuall the breadth of information freely given here is pleasantly surprising.

Kind regards
Nick

Thanks Nick. When we find out if yours are Libochovice or Fostoria may I add them to the Trinket Sets website for reference please?
