Venini or not? Asking for some opinions
« on: December 03, 2016, 06:58:31 PM »
Hello,

I have this vase I picked up a little more than a year ago at a local fleamarket. I didn't have time to fully start researching it till now. I can't seem to find one like it, and seeing that there are a lot of fake/reproduction Venini out there, I though I should ask for some opinions, related to age, authenticity, etc, any information really. Any Venini experts out there that would like to voice an opinion, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

Hi and welcome. This has only been here for 4 days, the folk who would know might not have seen it yet. Not everybody comes in every day.
Have a little patience, please. We don't give up here, sometimes we get an answer right away, sometimes it can take years.
I hope it won't take years for this. ;D
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

I ended up doing what I should have done to begin with: Contact Venini and ask them. They told me the vase was not of Venini manufacture and that the signature was counterfeit. Well, at least I learned something (and the vase only cost me a couple of dollars).

Venini started engraved signatures in the 1980s - mostly 'Venini' + production year. Sometimes with the designer name/monogram, sometimes including 'Italia'.

The counterfeit signature is quite a good one, to the point where it might still be worth while poking around to see if it's a lesser series the respondent to your enquiry had overlooked.
