Topic: Bohemian Purple Iridescent Crackle Glass Hyacinth Bulb Vase

A Bohemian purple iridescent glass hyacinth bulb vase . It looks very similar to crackle glass . I am not sure who made it but thought Kralik a possibility. Its not a shape or colour that I can find in another hyacinth vase.

it looks good Roy, and at least for me, unusual insofar as I've not seen this shape, although at that height there doesn't seem to be much room for the roots.     Not that I'm doubting you, but what is the source of your provenance for Bohemian if, as you say, you can't find this shape elsewhere  -  the colour and surface texture, and presumably you've looked in Patricia's book?            When you say 'crackle', is the surface glass fissured - I can't see from the pix.

Interesting shape, Kralik Martele was my first thought.

Although I do believe the Martele decor was produced by a number of Bohemian firms.

I think Greg thought of Kralik Martele is a possibility. When I said crackle that was the nearest I could think. I would say a hammered finish is a better description.
I still pretty sure it Bohemian but that only my thought and no provenance. My only other thought was Webbs but I could find nothing similar.

I did check Patricia's book but came up with a blank. I also have another Hyacinth vase that Patricia has not seen before  and is not in her book and they both come from a very large collection of mostly Victorian uranium glass but also some iridescent items.

I will post the other hyacinth vase in a new post.

A Martele pattern for sure, Kralik, Loetz and Rindskopf used martele, there are examples from all thee companies on Craig's Kralik.com website. Tough to tell them apart from photos though...

I did email Craig and he confirmed martele and his gut feeling was Kralik . He also said it was a shape he's not seen before ,but after many years of research nothing surprised him anymore.

Has patricia seen this? 3.5 seems wide for a bulb vase? unless an onion, across the rim?

Normally 2 3/4 inches max ?

1 3/4 inch max for internal hole.

If it was an onion the root base is not big enough

This is the smallest bulb vase so far . hyacinth wise.

3 inches by 4 inches 1 3/4 inches internal diameter.

Not sure if Patricia has seen this . The 3.5" diameter is the base , the internal diameter hole is less than 2" .

We need to shake David up he only reads the British posts, patricia is lovely and she would be the final nail in the coffin.
