Blown glass bowl with flat top of 4 inch width!
« on: May 11, 2017, 09:24:23 AM »
My first post.

I bought this glass at an antique shop the other day.
I am having a real problem identifying it.

29cm wide / 11.5 inches with a 10cm / 4 inch flat top edge

I looked though all the Whitefriars catalogue, none are this shape.
The posy shapes are similar but all the tops slope downwards.

I looked at Monart shapes JG TG and VG they have the similar flat tops.
The pontil differs, from the usual Monart. I think?
The glass is poor quality though, so is it an early one? -see attached.
It gives a lovely ring when you tap it.

The pontil and bottom looks like a Nazeing but I can’t see many examples of Nazeing bowls on the net to compare.

Any help greatly appreciated
