Blue geode bowl with frosted interior.
« on: June 30, 2018, 03:26:27 PM »
Any ideas about this one would be much appreciated.  The interior is frosted.  No maker's mark seen but there is a great deal of wear on the base, so I'm assuming it is quite old, possibly 50s 60s. ???
I thought it might possibly be Italian.  Quite heavy at 1600g, nearly 8.5" diameter and thick walled.
Many thanks :)

Just giving this a little bump ;)
I've continued to research it, but haven't found a similar one yet two years later.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated to expand my search.  :)

A vague Krosno or LSA, could be, maybe, sort of...

John do you not think that might be a Murano bowl?  I know it has the frosted interior but shape and finish and base made me think Murano?

Could be, just realised how big it is, bit of a beast.

Just for interest, here's the bowl alongside my Carlo Moretti pencil vases.  I'm not suggesting the bowl is one of his, but don't they look good together.  :)
I love the colour! I'll certainly pursue the Murano suggestion.

As we're at the point of throwing ideas around :) I'll add my one and only thought.
It was from my guts, and I take no responsibility for them. ::)
It's round, big, heavy, solid glass and unusually satinated.

ooh Sue - great suggestion!

After you said that I had a quick look and did find this one with what I think is a matt interior:
