hello Ana - welcome to the GMB. I've seen this colour before - the slightly dull/matte surface with different shade underneath, but for the life of me can't now remember where.
Not that I have any knowledge of culinary matters, but I'd assumed cheese dishes were rectangular often with a wedge shaped lid, and that butters were always round - but who knows, perhaps it is for cheese.
Hopefully someone here will have the answer for you.
P.S. As a very slightly educated guess, this fading to the pale under-colour is reminiscent of the effect produced in Schlevogt glass - the original colour was green - similar to malachite. Apparently this stuff also comes in other colours, including a reddish shade, so might be worth having a look in that direction. The origin is/was Czechoslovakia, and it found fame in the art deco period from memory
