UGS Glass Japan
« on: April 18, 2020, 07:30:27 PM »
Does anyone know anything about UGS glass of Japan? I understand that there is a Japanese Glass group on Facebook, but I don't use FaceBook. Just trying to get some documentation/discussion about UGS Glass onto this site. BTW, many of the links in the stickies in the Far East section, which discuss Japanese art glass are not working for me. Guessing they are bad. I am including images of a UGS Glass vase from my collection. This one is a bit unusual as the base has not be been ground, which is commonly seen on UGS vases. Most of the vases I have seen appear to date to the 1960s. Not sure of the years which UGS Glass was active, if it was a glass house or just an exporter.
Glass mutt. I collect anything I like & find interesting & is of reasonable quality.

You are correct re there being a Facebook group.  It is simply called 'Japanese Glass'.  I created it to help me determine which of my "Murano" glass was in fact Japanese.  Currently there are 724 members and a couple really know there stuff.  All are welcome provided they do not sell or ask for a valuation.  I do not know this maker so can not assist in that way.

Thanks for your comment, Ross. I appreciate it. There is a good chance that I have already talked to the experts in your group via other sites. I just wanted to have the conversation on this site, as well, as it is another venue and this site is currently pretty light on conversations about Japanese art glass.
