I've found a pic of the etched Dartington "B" mark - bottom photo in this thread, at 12 o-clock. :)

Hello again.....

Thanks again for all this help.

I should of mentioned that he’s I do believe it to be a candlestick one of thoose “chunky” ones as you said.
I have no idea what factory it’s by though or anything else other than it’s a candlestick.

Also there is another mark on the base which is definitely engraved. It’s initials by the looks of it....... 2 or 3 letters. I believe it to be “KB” “ICB”

Good tip about the talc, don’t have talc but did pinch the Mrs eye shadow which has done the job great. Sorry I keep using the photo sharing page but it seems to be working for me at the moment.

Here’s some more photos.

Hi Greg,

If you look at the photos I’ve just shared. It is Similar to the dartington mark but not the same.

This one is a much clearer B which actually looks a bit like a 13. It doesn’t have D shape to the B that dartington use.

Baring in mind I will eat my words if this is actually a dartington Mark.

Thank you very much though for the info and pictures of the decanter.

Nathan

I don't mind being confused with Greg at all, but I don't know what he thinks! ;)
I think Dartington did change their marks. I'm far more used to seeing the whole word etched, or the crossed blowpipes of their Studio range.
I'm a bit scared of external links. They can mess my pc up.
I may be post-modern, but I'm pre-techno. ::)
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Hello “Sue” Get it right this time.

I just don’t recognise the mark being Dartington or the piece itself.

I understand not trusting external links. But rest assured it is a well used photo uploading site.

Thanks Sue

Years ago, I got terribly confused by Dartington marks always looking like Bs.
So when somebody says something is marked with a B, the automatic response  - especially for a rather solid or substantial clear piece of glass, is... Dartingtion!

Reidel is another company that can have very confusing marks which look like letters they're not.
I'm sure we'll be able to find out what it is, eventually. There are loads of other folk here, and we don't all come along every day. But we don't give up, Nathan. :) Ever. ;D
