Help identify blue glass lamp base
« on: July 02, 2020, 12:55:48 PM »
Hello GMB, it’s been a while!   :)

Could you help me identify this blue glass lampbase.  I am deliberately posting under ‘glass’ and not a specific country of origin because I want it to have a clean slate.  I actually sold this item recently but the buyer is strongly questioning the title I put on it.  The buyer also says this base has ‘ripply sides’, therefore it is cheap mass produced glass and not what I suggested it was.

So here are a few images - could you take a look at say where this item hails from originally?

Thank you!

 ;D :-*
Wonderful to see you, Max!
Your pics are not blowing up enough to see detail really clearly - but I cannot see anything remotely "ripply".
That looks like a flat polished base, with appropriate age-related wear.

Sue!

Omg so nice to see you!  Are you still in the same place?  Such an amazing glassy house!

I’ve never had to navigate the gmb on a phone before so maybe my photos are lacking a bit!  Nice to be here though, my old stamping ground!

We're still here. :)
No intention of leaving in any manner other than body bags. ;D
I did "see" you recently. There was a repeat of you with Andy and the Liuli Fan Gong shown. 8)

It's been a while, Max! Hope you are well.

I still know almost nothing factual about decorative coloured glassware and certainly can't help with the lamp base. But thought I would say "Hi".

I'm pretty much in the same boat, Kev - delighted to see Max, but not so sure about the glass.

It's not mumbling Murano at me, the teardrop shape of the internal part, and the completely flat sloping sides are a little bit Exbor-ish...
But I have troubles with pale blues. I can never, ever work out their age. They always look newer to me than they are, for some reason. ???

I hear what you’re saying with the Exbor Hlava style teardrop shape but the quality isn’t there for that, worst luck.  Im pretty sure it’s just a swung out maybe moulded piece.

But oooooh Kevin Holt’s in da house!   How are you and why aren’t you both on Facebook?   kisses!  Xxxxxxxx

Haven't joined the techno age. Don't understand it, and can't cope with it. ::)

Me too!   We have three - all sisters.  One went missing for four years but came back recently.  Chaos ensued!  You can imagine!
