Topic: Cased Glass Acid Etched Vase

Can anyone suggest a maker of this vase? it is cased glass acid etched. an online appraiser could only say that it might be mid century possibly Tiffin. I found some similar by michael weems but his is not mid century though the appraiser could be very wrong as is often the case  . 16" h.

Are the edges of the etching quite sharp?
It has a bit of look of some Portmeirion that was produced for a short while, I have a "monowave" bucket, and found a single image of the "swirling leaves" pattern on the web.
I don't know if "swirling leaves" was made in pink, or in this shape, but it does look a bit like it.

I’ve just seen something with a similar sort of pattern and look to the surface (going by your smallish photo) that looked as though it was one of those more modern vases where the frosting can be scraped off - something applied rather than etched. Not that yours is one of those, but are you positive it’s acid etched?

Managed to find pics of my Monowave bucket.
It is quite a big thing - I use it as the bathroom wastepaper basket.

I was referring to the tonyati’s vase re frosting rather than Sue’s if it might’ve read that way. I took your advice some time ago Sue, of using large vases for waste bins...I have three now but the main disadvantage is I can see the content!

As you can see, this one is nicely opaque. 
I do put a paper bag inside it, to keep the rubbish from contacting the inner walls.

The depth of the etching and its sharp edges do not show up in my pics sadly, but it was the first thing I thought of when I saw the pic of the pink vase. The similarity of the very deep, but not well-finished and sharp edges of the etching. The surface of the black lines is smooth and shiney, but the "inner walls" of the etched away parts are rough to the touch, as is the white background.
The rim is polished.

the edges of the swirls are crisp but would hesitate to call them sharp. thank you for the lead.

it may well be modern as i indicated in the opening post. the raised decoration would be etched. as such i would assume that the frosting is a by-product of the acid etching, but would not swear to it. i have posted another smallish photo for a closeup

Thanks for the extra photo. Forget what I said looks acid etched to me with a definite edge between the two surfaces finishes.

this weems vase has a decorative pattern evocative of my vase - though clearly different. its base is comparable to mine. even the shape is somewhat suggestive.
