Topic: Art glass bowl with pontil-maker needed

Hello,
This is my first post so please be patient. I picked up this art glass bowl yesterday-it seemed to have a special something about it to me at least. It is a murky pink with decorations of swirls around the rim in many colours and swirls. It has a large shiny Pontic mark on the bottom and is quite heavy. It measures 9.5 inches at its widest. It weighs 1.146kg. I’m attaching photos for help. If anyone knows anything about it I’d be grateful. I’ve scoured the internet for too many hours and am still flummoxed!

It is definitely Scottish, and from the Ysart school.
The harlequin canes around the edge look rather busily and colourfully Perthshire, as do the neat, tight sworls, but the button on the base over the pontil scar, I think, is inconsistent with Perthshire and would suggest Monart or Vasart. My guts would go with Monart, because of the more sophisticated Perthshire looking canes and sworls.
Strathearn would/should have had the leaping salmon logo impressed into the button.
It's too bright and tight, (to me) for Vasart.

You may need a proper Ysart collector to find out which maker exactly. I'm just an interested onlooker.

I'm just looking at various clues I am aware of, but I'm not aware of everything.
A proper collector would know.
The "murkiness" of the pink is Monart-y. But it could be Vasart, if it was Salvador made it.
It's a very good piece.

Wow, you sound like an expert to me. Thanks Sue and all. It only cost me a pound! To be fair, when I bought it I had no idea if it was something special or from Homesense 😂 but on closer inspection, it seemed to have a certain something about it. I am a vintage trader but I don’t sell much glass because I don’t know much about it at all. But I would like to learn! I just never know where to begin. I totally appreciate all of your wisdom and having places like this to pick knowledgeable brains!

Sorry to be a bit pedantic, but what evidence is there to say that Paul Ysart did not make it in the post-war Monart period?

And if it is Vasart, which "Vasart" period are we thinking about- post-war Ysart Brothers Glass, trading name Vasart, 1946 to 1956, or very post-war Vasart Ltd (1956 to 1964)?

I don't know what evidence I should be looking for to answer those questions. I am very pleased you've commented Kev. It's you we need here.
I don't recognise Paul's work, I just have a feeling, sometimes, for Salvador's. He gets a certain subtle softness into the way he works the colours.

My response to Sue's comments (previous post) is that I say much the same things in respect of Ysart-style paperweights and related objects. My questions could simply be rhetorical musings.

Truth is, when it comes to details of who made what, and when, in the Ysart-style, I am just as lost as most other folk unless there is something particular to help us out.

As for the use, and working, of millefiori canes in a bowl or vase etc., again there has to be something more obvious than just a delicate whorl of colour, or a partial hint at a partial cane to, help derive a possible ID.

I agree the bowl shown here is very good in terms of colour balance and form. But "who and when" ...
