This glass vase looks black from a distance but close up you can see it's speckled amethyst. Theres 3 patches consisting of yellow within blue. It's approx 40cm tall. Any thoughts on maker / era would be great. Thank you ")

  It looks a little bit wonky, is it?
I can't really tell if it's the background or wonk. 
If there is wonkiness, I would think you've found another nice bit of contemporary Chinese glass.

Hi Sue No, it's not on the wonk. I was looking earlier and I'm thinking it's a Herb A Thomas piece

It's the straight lines of your doors behind, lining up with different levels on the sides of the vase that's confusing me.

Modern mass production, could well be China. Has all the hallmarks, large, heavy, thick walled and the matt pontil mark is the clincher.

You're right Sue, it does look wonky in the photos

I didn't see the pontil mark was ground, although I was looking for it.
I thought it was clear and kind of a stepped bottom shape.
If I'd seen the mark was ground, (and I can see now there is a sliver unground in it), I'd have said Chinese, without any doubt.
You are developing a good collection of Chinese glass to study and get a feel for, Roobarb. You really need to get out and about (I know that's frustratingly impossible right now) and get your mitts on lots of different kinds of glass, to get a feel for it.
You need to come along to the big fairs and meet us all and we can happily talk and study the glass with examples of it in our hands until the cows come home, and we can take the glass we've chosen home with us too.
(I'm really missing getting to a fair and meeting up with everybody. It's the highlight of my year. )

Hi Sue, I've been lucky enough to find lots of types of glass since I started to resell, I also do all types of homewares, clothes and accessories so glass isn't my speciality, but now thinking if I don't know what it is...it might Chinese When not in lockdown I do manage to get out and about everyday sourcing

Glass is a very complex area. Which contains loads of other complex areas. But it's lots of fun and there is always new stuff to learn.

I received something in this range a good 8 years ago or so as a present.  Mine is a bowl, lime green outer white inner with a splodge the same as yours one either side of the bowl.  My splodge is the white/grey outer and has a dark green inner.  I love my bowl.  It's not badly made.  The pontil mark is ground but not polished also large.
I think the label began with a D but cannot remember the name on it and I've washed it off. I do recall there was a 'range' of these items though in a few colours.  I thought it might have been Polish but now think it was a 'distributor' type label and that it was possibly made in China.
