Connie, thanks for checking your books.
certainly looked like Blenko, got voted down for Whitefriars ,
not that sure about Empoli, had a look at a few, and saw a crackle vase by
them, but it was quite different in texture.
I still think it may be English, or if Italian, maybe Murano?
I will keep looking! :)

Much (most?) Blenko has a rather large  "speed bump" pontil.  That is to say the interior of the pontil has a very definite smooth lump of glass rather than  the normal rough break.  I believe this is because the glass blowers heat the pontil to get rid of the sharp edges - probably something recommended by their lawyers.  While not fool proof, the speed bump, along with size, shape and color, is a fairly good indication that the item may be Blenko.

I have to disagree but the pontil finish or even bottom finish is a poor indicator on whether a piece is Blenko or not.  Blenko used many different methods of finish from a rough pontil, partially ground pontil, totally polished pontil, flat polished bottom, etc.  They finished a piece in whatever method worked best for that item.

Hi , no visible pontil on this one, covered by the attachment of the stem, even held
up to the light, cant see anysign.
Both stem and the way base is applied to it, reminds me very much of 19th Century ???
I know crackle glass was popular then, but the orange colour ???
Certainly has more studio feel than factory made, but i think its at least 50 years old,
and again if 1930s, did they have such an Orange?
Still a mystery :-\
Cheers all,
Andy

The stem style is similar to that shown in topic: "GREEN GOBLET GLASS W/twisted stem"
The many companies located in the general region of Empoli made a huge variety of glass in large volumes.

The stem certainly is very similar, and attached same way,
no idea why, or reason to back my opinion up whatsoever, but it doesnt feel Italian,
ive just got this idea in my head that its circa 30s, and English , maybe just because its
got a Whitefriarsy feel to it ;D
If anyone spots something similar, remember this thread and let me know.
