Original trademark by Ohio Flint Glass Co.c.1907. Trademark sold to the Jefferson Glass Co. along with original molds to there "Chippendale" pattern c. 1913. Some pieces made as late as 1926. Referenced in the book " American Pressed Glass and Figure Bottles" by Albert Christian Revi.

I have seen the mark on more than one pattern. Raised mark molded in the glass.

Thanks! That's what I found also; just needed a specialist's confirmation that it's in that date range and difficult to pinpoint further based on the piece itself.

The design of the item is Chippendale. But with added black decoration. (rather nice)
I've been wracking the recesses of what is left of my brain to try to remember how Krys-tol fitted in, but all I can recall is that the mark  indicates a fairly restricted time period. There may be a lot more info. about it in old threads here.

The black decoration looks very much like tarnished silver deposit. I would date roughly c. 1920. 5 years on either side of that date. Based on design of decoration. Without documentation very difficult to be exact.

Specialist comment very flattering but hardly the case. Always more to learn and many more mistakes to make. Long time interest in glassware.

The black looks/feels like an enamel (it's slightly raised).

Rub it gently with your thumb pad. If it's silver, that will remove tarnish. :)

It looks as if it might be silver coloured on the side that is stuck to the glass, from looking at it inside.
Unless that's an added layer of something to put a paint onto. ;D

Genius! It is silver, not black. What's a safe way to clean it?

You could carry on with your thumb, or get hold of some silver polish. But it will remove some of the silver - it has oxidised to the black.
The layer you have is probably quite thin. I wouldn't go overboard or too enthusiastic with any polish, which is a harsher removal. :)
