Topic: Unknown - JIP - Big, Heavy...

I just got this today.  It is HUGE.  Weighs lots.  There is wear on the base, and I have no idea.  The base is kinda loped, and swirled -- so I am .  Must weigh like 4 pounds (as a guess).  Quite the size, and quite striking...

(JIP = Jack-in-The-Pulpit) definition 

~ 13.5 inches tall to the top
~ The Pulpit Flower length itself is like 11 inches long
~ The Pulpit Flower width is like 7 inches long
~ The Base is about 4.5 inches wide

Any ideas?  I can not find nothing.  I think it is a quality piece, and not  :or: as it appears to be made quiet well.

Help?  Any ideas....

Hi there -- I have been rooting around....Er....I mean looking around on the net here for all sorts of things, and I have drawn a blank.

Now just about the time I was ready to give up for anything even slightly close to this, I stubbed upon this.

Now I know that attributions can be wrong on sites, but someone *help* me out with this -- as I seemed to have found (?) A picture of a Murano JIP Vase that looks like mine......at least I think, IMHO..


So please help.  Could this be Murano? Is that attribution correct there on the link as all the looking I did not find a thing, until I was about to give up....and stumbled on that link.  

So could this be?  Anyone seen one like this?  Anyone know if it is, who is the maker, and the year made..... :X: ......or is it  :or: ?

The vase does look like yours, doesn't it? I didn't know the source of your vase. I thought it looked like it might be from Mexico or the American Southwest. I didn't suspect Murano, but then what did I know?

Hi -- To me it seems like it is made very well, and very heavy.  Not that it might still be  :or: but it just seems to be made rather well.  When I first saw it - I thought maybe Chalet, or Lorraine Glass -- but I could not find anything like it.  The lady I got it from said she had for years (??).  The glass seems to not have hardly any bubbles (like I seen in other Chinese stuff - but then I have been fooled too) and the glass seems to be high quality....

Not sure if Lorraine Glass or Chalet made any JIP ....??

??  ...but then, what do I know.  There does seem to be wear on the bottom....Maybe Chinese (80's) then??  It is still quite a magnificent piece I must say.  Maybe something will yet turn up ...... on a site that is more reputable.  I was wondering IF that was the  :huh: site or not that I read somewhere before.   :ha:

I think a lot of Chinese glass can be very well made - one of the big giveaways it the very bright colours - and the abundance of them.

 :cry: :cry: Just Kidding, I can still live with it.  It is still nice.   

Guess we gotta remember that  :or: stuff (if from the 70's or 80's) is getting some age to.....and maybe they did make the stuff a bit better then, not like now (maybe)??  LOL  Think Positive...

I found the same vase as yours and your link at http://home.earthlink.net/~verredart5/glass/JIP.html. Is this site by the same person as the one that did the JIP site? The verredart site also has it listed as Murano.

 :hiclp: :hiclp: Thanks for that Link TxSilver -- Yes, those DO look like Mine.  The one that is listed as "Murano - Double teardrop Pansy Vase Circa 1965" looks exactly like mine.  It says 12.5 inches there, and I measured mine at 13.5 inches, but maybe with the extension of the glass sticking out some -- my measurements (might) be a bit wrong 

Yes that looks exactly like it.  Of course it would be much better to be Murano  :thup: than  :or: Right ? :24:

So who's site is that one?  Is this site more reliable than the other one....or what?  It seems that this link that TxSilver posted (is, or should be) more reputable?   As they have quite a few more pics, and have circa dates for the items listed there ----- While that other site only have some pics, and no circa date.

I always assume if people have mentioned a Circa date, that they have did some research -- otherwise why bother even mentioning it at all.  Only those that do research, think about mentioning a circa date.  I know that is not a rule of thumb, but to me when you stick your neck out to use the word CIRCA then you have did some homework.  Maybe that is the wrong attitude to have.......but most people would just say *made around the 60's or so era*... so keeping my fingers  :X:
