Topic: Monart or Czech??

Hi all,

I have this vase which I thought was Monart but now am having second thoughts so all comments are appreciated!

It fits with the OE shape and size VII, the base (diameter 3.75") has a large button pontil scar almost 1.5" in diameter which has been ground , almost flat to the base at one side. There is an outer rim (0.75" wide) which has also been ground.

The colours could be Monart but are also typical of the Czech ones which are confused with Monart - green base to blue at the top with gold aventurine, some black specks and bubbles in the glass. Clear cased but the glass isn't very thick which some of the Czech stuff can be, it is about the same as my other Monart of similar size. No uranium content.

I don't see why your worried about this OE shape vase Roberta.

Thanks Nigel  - It was just with my other vase being wrong I suddenly remembered about the Czech ones in the same colourway of this vase - I have no idea what the bases are like on those  - and panicked a bit ! Still a lot to learn

mmmmmmm still not too sure , I know the base looks good but something still niggling me about the colourway

Remember what Frank said in the other post - the same colours were used by lots of makers!
Here is a pic of it next to a similar colour:
all the czech ones I have seen (but I haven't handled any in these colours) have been much thicker, heavier glass.

It is Monart, no doubt to me.

seen the same colour on ysart glass under non ysart glass, maybe just the lack of the red in it but dunno still not 100%

Well if both Frank and Nigel and happy with it then that's enough for me
