I'm flummoxed by this - it looks rather new, but the base wear seems to contradict that.

If something is moved around a lot, wear will appear more quickly, it's not always the most reliable of indicators, but is one well worth taking into consideration.

What your pic of the base wear shows nicely is that the wear is only on a small and very thin ring of the base - where the bottom actually makes contact with a surface.
That is something to take into consideration when looking for any wear.
It can often be completely obscured because of the very fine point of contact.
The way to find it is with your fingernail - run it around the edges and you can often find fine wear you cannot see.
This piece would be very good for practising that on. You can see and feel the fine wear, so you should be able to find any obscured wear on other things, in the future.
